After blocking the Qantas Airways A$611 million buyout of Alliance Aviation in Australia, because the deal "might push prices up and service quality down", Australia's Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) also has refused to reauthorise the agreement between Qantas rival Virgin Australia and Alliance to jointly provide fly-in and fly-out (FIFO) services to their corporate clients. The charter alliance has not delivered on the public benefits expected when it was authorised to conduct these services together in 2017, the regulator said.
