Air New Zealand has significantly extended its deadline for customers to redeem their Covid-19 flight credits by two years to 31 January 2026.
It says 85 per cent of its customers holding a Covid-19 credit have already used them and the value of the remaining credits is about NZ$200 million.
Following failed efforts to contact those holders, the carrier said the extension "is the right thing to do," to give customers more time.
“Air New Zealand Covid credits were issued for customers who purchased non-refundable fares for flights that could not be flown due to the pandemic. All customers who purchased refundable fares for flights impacted by Covid and have contacted us for a refund have had them processed,” the NZ flag carrier said.
The extension means customers who hold a credit now have until 31 January 2026 to book travel for completion by 31 December 2026.
