Surging oil prices caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine have hit US carriers' share prices, with United, Delta and American losing 10, eight and seven per cent respectively on Monday.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC's) latest 'Airline Competition in Australia' report, Virgin Australia carried more domestic passengers than rivals Qantas, Jetstar and Rex in January, with 34 per cent of the passenger market, up from 22 per cent in November 2020.
