SIA passenger totals near 2,000,000 for June

The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group carried a total of 1,938,200 passengers in June 2022, up 13.7 per cent from the previous month. Group passenger capacity (measured in available seat-kilometres) in June 2022 was three percentage points higher than the month before and 36 per cent higher compared to a year ago, reaching 64 per cent of pre-Covid-19 pandemic levels.

The decision by India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council to levy a 12 per cent tax on small hotels and accommodation facilities charging room rent up to INR1,000 (US$12.50) per day from 18 July 2022 will slow the recovery of budget hotels still suffering from the Covid pandemic, according to analysis by GlobalData.
