Spain-based IAG, which is the parent of Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Vuelling, is to bid for part of airberlin, according to Reuters, although the majority of the insolvent German carrier's assets are expected to be sold to Lufthansa, which is reported to be bidding EUR200 million for 'parts of' airberlin, plus leisure airline Niki and regional carrier LGW.
